Packaging
Review 1: Neutral The packaging is fine. I don’t know that it stands out, being a dark color, but it does the job.
Review 2: Neutral Would prefer carded packaging
Review 3: Dissatisfied Came with cardstock backing, not very eye catching
Review 4: Neutral It’s okay. Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn’t really grab you on the shelf either. It protects the product, just feels a little plain.
Instructions
Review 1: There were instructions, and they were needed due to the unusual method of clearing the garlic skin and residue from the press.
Review 2: Instructions were not necessary
Review 3: No instructions printed, but had a QR code to a youtube video showing how it works
Review 4: I think a quick printed insert would help. It’s not complicated, but the cleaning method isn’t obvious at first.
Product Design
Review 1: Very Satisfied This is a clean and well-designed piece. It’s deceptively simple and does a decent job for a garlic press. I am more of a fan of the rocker style presses, but I do like this one.
Review 2: Very Satisfied this is well made feels solid and durable
Review 3: Satisfied It absolutely works. I was a little thrown off by how easily the handles can separate (which is intentional). May appeal to customers with grip issues, as it has a more ergonomic handle than others we carry.
Review 4: Satisfied It feels solid in your hand and definitely well made. The handle design is a little different, which some customers might really like, especially if grip is an issue.
Product Utility
Review 1: Very Satisfied It’s a smart design and nice looking. Feels sturdy and should last a long time.
Review 2: Very Satisfied product works very well and was surprisingly easy to clean. This is a big deal for garlic presses
Review 3: Satisfied It works, but it shows how much individual preferences come into play. The people I
had try it with me didn’t love it, or didn’t see it as an improvement over what they currently have.
Review 4: Satisfied It does what it’s supposed to do. Cleaning wasn’t difficult, which is important for this category. I can see it working well for some customers, just not a game changer for everyone.
Pricing
Review 1: Satisfied Fair price for the design. The cost is $15, retail $30, but I might sell at $34.99 to gain a bit of margin.
Review 2: Satisfied Pricing is in line with the market
Review 3: Satisfied Map is $30, feels like a reasonable pricepoint for the heft of the product.
Review 4: Satisfied The price feels about right for the weight and quality. It’s in that expected range for a nicer garlic press.
Would you buy this product as a consumer?
Review 1: Probably not, just personal preference
Review 2: Yes
Review 3: No
Review 4: Maybe I wouldn’t rush out to buy it, but I wouldn’t rule it out either. It would depend on what I already had at home.
Would you buy this product for your store?
Review 1: possibly, I will be considering it.
Review 2: Yes
Review 3: No
Review 4: Possibly I would think about it. It might appeal to a certain customer, but I would need to see where it fits in our current mix.
Notes
Review 1: I think a nicer packaging design could help this stand out as a nicer quality product. I’m not sure exactly what to change, but it feels more high-end during use than expected.
Review 2: This is a pretty tough category to stand out in but I think Garlic Easy does a pretty god job.
Review 3: It worked much better on peeled garlic, I did not like it for unpeeled garlic
Review 4: I think it performs better with peeled garlic. Also, this is a crowded category, so anything that helps it stand out visually would make a difference.
